about
Overview
I am a driven and reliable fourth-year electrical engineering major with strong communication skills and a desire to solve problems. I am most effective in fast-paced environments, eager to collaborate with teams, and always motivated to have a positive outlook. Extremely thorough and analytical in approaching problems, I have a good understanding of electronic circuits and skilled at quickly troubleshooting problems and developing creative solutions within complex systems. Quick to learn and eager to continue developing electrical engineering skills through summer internships, especially in the fields of automation & robotics, analog circuits, and pro-audio.
Background
Born and raised in Saint Louis, MO, I am the oldest of four brothers. With my father working as a pastor and my mother working as a landscape designer, we are still not certain where my "engineering gene" came from. Growing up, it was always clear I was going to be an engineer as it was common for me to take apart various household electronics to learn how they worked, and sometimes things even got re-assembled (although this never happened as often as my mother wanted it to).
I have been involved for many years in audio/video production, hobby electronics and DIY, and electrical engineering. Having studied pre-engineering at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA for three years, I have a strong and diverse academic background thanks to their rigorous liberal arts program.
Now studying electrical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, I am determined to continue to learn and develop my interests and skills in the field of electrical engineering. Instilled with a strong work ethic from my parents, I am intensely driven and reliable, and a powerful team player who strives to achieve mutual and personal goals in the best possible ways.
In my free time, I am an avid electronics hobbyist and have experience designing, prototyping, soldering, and debugging analog audio circuits, which I use to record my own music. I am also a long-time user of the Arduino platform and am currently teaching myself EAGLE so I can craft custom PCBs for my hobby projects. I have played in multiple studio and live bands as a bassist, keyboardist, guitarist, and drummer, and produce my own music as well.
Goals
Finish School
I am currently in school studying Electrical Engineering. While I thoroughly enjoy learning more about the world of EE, I am a much more practical, hands-on leaner, meaning that the classroom is not the place for me. My goal is to get my BSEE from Georgia Tech along with my BA in Natural Sciences from Covenant College in May 2023 so I can get into the field as quickly as possible. I am currently on track with both of these degrees!
Gain Experience
During the summers, I am seeking internship experience in the Electrical Engineering field. I am very interested in developing my technical skills regarding automation, analog circuits, and audio technology. I put a great value on internships and co-ops, as I believe they are the best possible way to learn relevant skills for any field. Similarly, I continue to work on my own hobby projects to improve my interests and skills throughout the semesters.
Establish a Career
After finishing school, my hope is to enter the field as a committed, hardworking, and insightful electrical engineer. I greatly value consistency in my workplace, and I love being a part of a team that supports each other. As a result, I often end up developing lasting relationships with my employers, and I try to stick around as long as I can, wherever I am. Upon the completion of school, I plan on settling down with a lasting career that both gives me room to grow and enables me to leave a lasting impact with my work and the solutions we come up with together.
